| Each woman walking through our doors has her own personal story to tell. She could be happily married, but unable to fall pregnant by her husband. She could be a single woman who wants a child, but just hasn't found a suitable partner. She could be in a committed gay relationship in which both partners want a child. She could be the new wife of a man who has had a vasectomy.
Whatever your reason may be, at Cryobank we have a selection of donated sperm ready for insemination at our rooms. From our bank, you will be able to select a donor that fits in with your genetic requirements, in terms of race, features and lineage. The insemination process is simple and you will need to visit our rooms up to three times while you are ovulating. This can be arranged at your first consulation, or, if you are from out of town, through a series of e-mail conversations. We are open Mondays to Fridays between 07h00 and 14h00 and on weekends/public holidays by arrangement. IN OUR SPERM BANKOur donors are the unsung heroes of our clinic. They are intelligent, handsome, strong and healthy men who are generous enough to donate their sperm free of charge. The most we can legally compensate them in South Africa, is a nominal reimbursement for out of pocket expenses. (Refer Government Gazette 29527 Chapter 1.4) South Africa is a racially and culturally diverse country, which means that our donors carry superb genetic material from African, European, Asian, Oriental or mixed blood stock. Each donor is carefully screened through a host/group of blood tests followed by a full physical conducted by a medical doctor to ensure that he is free from any genetic and infectious disease that can impact the health of a baby. Here is a list of some of the tests Cryobank performs on semen donors: HIV I and II. Hepatitis B surface antigen (HBs Ag). Hepatitis C (HCV-Ab). Full blood count. Liver enzymes. Glucose. Cholesterol. Triglyceride. Urea. Electrolytes. T. pallidum (for Syphilis). Gonorrhoea. Chromosomal study. Full Semen Analysis. HIV-free semen is guaranteed, as semen donations are kept in quarantine for at least six months while the donor is being tested and retested for HIV and Hepatitis. Semen specimens are only released after a medical doctor verifies that the donor is free of HIV and Hepatitis. TO RECEIVE DONOR SPERMA consultant at Cryobank can help recipients to make an informed choice to select the most appropriate donor from our donor profiles. You may elect the insemination procedure to be done with your own healthcare professional or one of our senior medical technologists. We are able to package sperm in cryogenically safe containers that can be sent to any chosen destination. INSEMINATION PROCESSContact us for an appointment to discuss your needs and the procedures. At this time, it is possible to make a donor selection with the help of a Cryobank counsellor. You will be asked to sign the Declaration by Patients with a representative from your clinic or your physician. You will then be able to set the date for your insemination procedure. We recommend that you make use of trained clinicians at fertility clinics for insemination. They can help to oversee the process and ensure that all procedures take place at the most opportune ovulation time. A list of fertility clinics in South Africa is provided. Prices are available on request. HIV-infected semen Our donors are HIV negative. We test our donors prior to commencement of the donor programme. (See donor screening). On completion of the donor program the donors are re-tested. They then return after 6 months and the tests are repeated to confirm they are still HIV negative. Donor sperm is only released after the final HIV negative result has been received. Consanguinity Updated 29 June 2007, www.cryobank.co.za, editor: Petrus Loubser

There is a way that nature speaks, that land speaks. Most of the time we are simply not patient enough, quiet enough, to pay attention to the story. Linda Hogan
